Motlow Baseball Goes 1-2 In Three Game Series Against Roane State

LYNCHBURG, TN (March 25, 2025) – The Bucks picked up one win and two defeats against Roane State this past weekend.

Motlow will travel this coming weekend to Dyersburg, facing Dyersburg State in a TCCAA three-game series.

Friday Game. Motlow 1 Roane State 3

Both teams were strong defensively as both teams did not allow any runs in the 1st and 2nd inning.  Motlow State started the scoring in the bottom of the 3rd inning by scoring one run. Roane State responded immediately by adding three runs to the scoreboard in the top of the 4th inning. 

The remaining of the game remained scoreless, with both teams staying strong defensively but not able to contribute offensively. With the score remaining the same, Roane State secured the win 1-3. 

Despite the loss, there was some positive moments from the players that the Bucks can look back on. CJ Robertson scored one run while Grant Goodwin had 1 RBI. Pitcher Caden Alvey had a great performance as he struck out 12 batters over 8 innings and Jack Fortner struck out 3 batters over 1 inning. 

Saturday Game 1. Motlow 7 Roane State 2

Roane State was able to start the scoring quickly as they added one run in the top of the 1st inning and one run in the top of the 2nd inning. Motlow State was able to respond offensively buy adding four runs to the scoreboard in the bottom of the second. 

Motlow State was able to gain momentum defensively as Roane State was unable to score any more runs through the rest of the game. Furthermore, the Bucks were able to extend their lead by adding one run in the bottom of the 3rdinning and two runs in the bottom of the 5th inning, securing the win for Motlow State 7-2. 

Saturday Game 2. Motlow 5 Roane State 7

Scoring started immediately as Roane State was able to score one run in the top of the 1st. Despite the early trail, Motlow State was able to respond by adding four runs in the bottom of the 1st giving the Bucks the lead by the 2ndinning. Roane State responded offensively  by adding two runs in the top of the 2nd, and one run in the top of the 3rd

The 4th and 5th inning remained scoreless, as both teams were able to keep their defensive efforts high. Roane State added two runs in the top of the 6th and one run in the top of the 7th, but Motlow State was able to end the game on a good offensive note by scoring one run in the bottom of the 7th

Despite the strong offensive efforts by the Bucks, Roane State was able to take the win 5-7.

Even with the loss, Motlow State can keep their heads high with the key plays from several players. First baseman Kaleb Gupton scored one run and had 2 RBIs. Right fielder Grant Goodwin scored one run and had 1 RBI. Luke Johnson and Tucker Allen each added one run each.
