Balanced Bucks men’s basketball outruns Roane State

The Motlow Bucks forced visiting Roane State into 27 turnovers and had 22 assists on 36 made baskets, beating the Raiders 87-71 Wednesday night at Nisbett Center on Motlow's Moore County campus.

The Bucks (1-0, 2-2) will travel to Gallatin on Saturday for a 4 p.m. tipoff against TCCAA rival Volunteer State (1-0, 2-4). Motlow will host Snead State (AL) on Monday, with the women's game tipping off at 5:30 p.m.

Knoxville freshman Aiden Goins and Bahamas classmate Anfernee Hanna each scored 16 points to lead the Bucks. Hanna added nine rebounds, while Goins pulled down seven rebounds and five blocked shots.

Motlow shot 51 percent from the field and held Roane State to 42 percent. Neither team shot 3-pointers well, with Roane hitting four and Motlow three. The Bucks hit 12-20 free throws, while the Raiders shot 33 free throws but only made 17.

Sophomore LaVonte Harris logged a double-double, scoring 10 points with 13 rebounds and eight assists, four steals, and two blocked shots. JaDarian Faulkner scored six points with five assists and five steals, Isaiah Curry scored 11 with four assists, Andrew Lamuno scored eight with three assists, and Lawrence Montgomery had eight point and two steals.
