Women’s Basketball drops heartbreaker to Jackson State

The Motlow Bucks women's basketball team fought gallantly to the end before falling by one point, 47-46, to Jackson State Saturday afternoon at Copperweld Arena.

The Bucks (1-15, 1-12) will travel to Walters State on Wednesday, Feb. 8, with tipoff scheduled for 4:30 p.m. central time in Morristown. Motlow will host Dyersburg State on Saturday, Feb. 11, with tipoff at 2 p.m. at Copperweld Arena.

Cold shooting was the downfall for the Bucks as they shot only 18.6 percent from the field and 15.4 percent from 3-point range. Motlow connected on 18-32 free throws.

A'Maria Thomison had a double-double for Motlow, scoring 14 points while pulling down 14 rebounds. She added five blocked shots and four steals.

Morgan Webb scored 15 points with eight rebounds; Jheilaa Thomas added 12 points, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals; and Destiny Russell scored five points with four rebounds. Kameya Bridgewater added seven rebounds.
 

Motlow State Community College competes on the Division I level in baseball, softball, women's soccer, men's basketball, and women's basketball. The Bucks are a member of the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA) and compete in Region 7 of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
