After two straight wins, Motlow Opens TCCAA Play at Dyersburg State

Camden Prosser

The Motlow Bucks extended their modest winning streak to two when they traveled to Douglas, GA, and beat South Georgia State 1-0 last Friday. The Bucks are ranked No. 20 in the latest NJCAA poll.

Motlow (2-1-1) will continue its road trip when it opens Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA) conference play in Covington, TN, to face Dyersburg State on Friday, Sept. 8 at 4 p.m.

The first home game is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 16, with the Bucks hosting non-conference opponent Spartanburg Methodist at 5 p.m.

The win over South Georgia State didn't come easy. The two teams battled scoreless through the first half, but 61:48 into the contest, Motlow's Camden Prosser, a freshman midfielder from Smyrna, scored the game's only goal on an assist from sophomore Alysa Benton.

The one goal was all the Bucks would need as Motlow's defense and goalkeepers shut the home team out. Freshman Alina Arneth, from Germany, shut them out in the first half and Manchester sophomore Lucy Riddle did the same in the final 45 minutes, notching a pair of saves. The Bucks have not allowed a goal in three games.

The Bucks had 16 shots, with 10 coming on goal. Prosser led the way with three, while Benton added two. South Georgia State managed only five shots.

Before Motlow hosts its first home game, the Bucks will travel to TCCAA rival Southwest Tennessee on Sunday, Sept. 10 for a 3 p.m. match.
